How quickly we forget

Once we 'change', whether it's getting rid of a bad habit, or reshaping some aspect of our personalities, we, or maybe I (I need to stop using collective nouns), seem to forget that we (I) ever held that bad habit, or were (was a) victim(s) to that one quirk no one liked that we (I) couldn't really help.

And then we (I) get big headed, floating above the crowd, forgetting that we (I) once walked the ground too.
Maybe even crawled on it.
